Emma and Zack’s Flying Diamond Ranch wedding was one of those days that felt like magic. Tucked in the aspen-covered hills of Steamboat Springs, this day had it all: a jaw-droppingly beautiful setting, a design that perfectly blended retro charm with mountain luxe, and a dance floor that doubled as a concert stage. We first connected thanks to one of my 2023 brides (who was a guest at this wedding and an absolute blast to see again!).
Emma and Zack are the kind of couple who bring their full selves to everything, especially the party. Not only did they get up on stage to sing and play guitar together (casually), but Emma closed out the night with her own DJ set. If you’ve never seen a bride throw her own dance party while absolutely killing it behind the booth, just know: it’s iconic. This was the kind of energy you wish you could bottle up and take home.
This love story is the kind that proves timing is everything—especially when it’s not quite right the first time. In the fall of 2020, these two had a few dates that didn’t quite work out. You know, the classic Covid-era story: bad timing, life distractions, and a touch of uncertainty. They went their separate ways, thinking that was the end of it. But fate, in all its glory, had other plans.
Fast forward to Spring 2021, when both Emma and Zack were hanging out on the same apartment building rooftop, not knowing the other was just a few feet away. Zack, being the guy he is, happened to spot Emma walking across the roof and thought, “Why not say hi?”—and just like that, their love story rebooted. The universe gave them a second shot, and this time, there was no looking back.
Emma and Zack’s wedding design was the perfect blend of retro mountain vibes and modern elegance, brought to life by their incredibly talented wedding planner. The vision balanced rustic charm with a fresh, contemporary twist—because why settle for ordinary when you can have something that feels both nostalgic and brand new?
The color palette was an absolute dream: emerald greens, soft peach, pink, and salmon tones. Flying Diamond Ranch was the perfect backdrop, with rich wood tones and stunning views of the Aspen trees. They were an integral part of the design.
Let’s talk details! Gold disco balls suspended above the dance floor gave the reception a playful, retro touch that felt both fun and glamorous. String lights added the perfect amount of twinkle, complementing the greenery that framed the space. The warm wood tones of the reception chairs grounded the contemporary colors, adding a touch of coziness.
This Flying Diamond Ranch wedding was a true celebration of them, and music was at the heart of it all. Both incredibly talented musicians turned their wedding day into a concert, sharing their passion for music with everyone lucky enough to be there.
Throughout the evening, Emma and Zack took to the stage together, playing guitar and singing! These moments were personal glimpses into their relationship. It was clear that their bond was as strong through music as it was through everything else, and the entire room could feel it.
As the night went on, Emma took over the DJ booth to close out the celebration. If you’ve ever seen a bride drop the beat at her own wedding, you know it’s not something you forget. It was the perfect, one-of-a-kind touch to a wedding that was full of heart.
