A Baja Luna Wedding in San José del Cabo

There’s always something special about photographing a destination wedding, especially when it involves a place as stunning as Baja Luna in San José del Cabo. The bride happens to be best friends with one of the planners I work with frequently in Colorado. She was helping Elisa find a photographer, and after a little online creeping (as one does), we connected—and the next thing I knew, I was packing my bags for Mexico.

It’s always a privilege to be invited to someone’s wedding day, but this one felt especially meaningful. Maybe it was the fact that it all unfolded oceans away from my usual Colorado mountain views, or maybe it was just them. Either way, stepping into this intimate, joy-filled celebration with their closest people was so much fun.

Baja Luna in Los Cabos

Let’s just say—Baja Luna had me at hello. Tucked away in San José del Cabo, this venue feels like it was designed specifically for golden hour. It’s modern meets tropical in the best way, with soft textures, clean lines, earthy tones, and palm shadows dancing on stucco walls… yeah, I was in photographer heaven.

Coming from the land of evergreens and mountain views, Baja Luna was a breath of fresh (ocean) air. It’s not every day I get to trade alpine backdrops for bougainvillea and Baja light—but I’ll happily make that swap any time.

The space was elegant. The styling was thoughtful but effortless, the florals were a dream (shoutout to the vendor team), and every corner of the venue gave me something beautiful to work with. I couldn’t stop photographing the little details.

Small Guest List, Big Feelings

One of the things that made Elisa and Ryan’s day feel so special was just how intentional everything was. They kept their guest list small and meaningful, inviting only their nearest and dearest—the kind of people who truly get them. The groom’s 17-year-old daughter was there, and watching her be part of every moment was a sweet reminder that weddings aren’t just about the two people tying the knot, but about merging lives, stories, and, in this case, generations.

Elisa cried during the father-daughter dance—not a dry eye in the house, and I’m including myself in that. The whole day had this easy, heart-forward energy. The real magic of destination weddings is the togetherness that can only happen when everyone’s fully present. Sure, the palm trees help, but it’s the way everyone slows down, leans in, and genuinely celebrates with nowhere to go after.

A Few Words From the Newlyweds

“You and Brady are awesome! We cannot thank you enough for your enthusiasm, professionalism, and kindness the entire week. You both went above and beyond and that does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. The preview looks unreal and we cannot wait to see the final edits. Beyond grateful for the two of you!”
