A Palmyra Lookout Telluride Wedding in Colorado

Meredith and Broderick’s late-August Telluride wedding unfolded with the kind of mountain-town charm that always keeps you on your toes—sun one minute, clouds the next. I covered their entire weekend, starting with the welcome evening and carrying all the way through the wedding day, which gave me the chance to document not just the big moments but all the small ones.

They met in high school at a Halloween party wearing the exact same costume. (Honestly, you can’t script a meet-cute that good.) Friends insisted they take a picture together, they spent the rest of the night talking, and before long they were on their first date. It’s the kind of beginning that feels unfairly adorable, like, save some charm for the rest of us. But truly, it fits them perfectly.

A Telluride Wedding Ceremony at Palmyra Lookout

Palmyra Lookout gave Meredith and Broderick a ceremony setting that hardly needed decoration. The sweeping views, quiet air, and classic Telluride peaks did all the heavy lifting. It was one of those locations where you show up, and instantly get why they chose it.

But mountain weather works on its own timeline, and just as vows began, a fast-moving thunderstorm rolled in. Telluride’s lightning protocol is strict: if a strike hits within 15 miles, everything stops—ceremony, gondola, the whole operation. And with that rule creeping closer on the radar, we suddenly found ourselves racing the sky.

With only a few moments left before the ring exchange and first kiss, everyone made the call to finish the ceremony quickly. They pulled it off beautifully and with zero panic. Then we moved straight into shuttles for safety while the storm settled in.

The on-mountain cocktail hour and portraits didn’t happen (thank you, weather), but their ceremony was still unforgettable. A little chaotic, sure, but in that way that reminds you real weddings don’t need perfect conditions to be perfect for the couple living them.

Reception at Peaks Resort & Spa

Once everyone made it safely down the mountain, the storm kept doing its thing overhead while Meredith and Broderick shifted seamlessly into reception mode at Peaks Resort & Spa. Inside, everything clicked right back into celebration. Signature drinks were flowing, friends were chatting, and the energy settled into that perfect mix of relaxed and ready to party. Dinner was gorgeous, toasts landed exactly how you hope they will, and then the dance floor… well, the dance floor absolutely did not disappoint. Cowboy hats came out, the couple ended up singing with the band, and at one point they were crowd-surfing. Iconic.

By the end of the night, it was clear the weather hadn’t dampened a thing. If anything, it gave the day a little extra character. Meredith and Broderick celebrated fully, surrounded by joy, good people, and a whole room cheering them on.
