Cabo San Lucas Wedding at Hilton Los Cabos

The text that popped up on my phone asking if I’d photograph a Cabo San Lucas wedding wasn’t just another inquiry. It was from someone who had slowly become a real friend over the years. Misty and I first connected on social media while she was building her wedding-planning business in Grand Junction, Colorado. Before long, she hired me to photograph branding images for her team, we worked weddings together, and somewhere along the way, our relationship became so much more than vendor friends. So, when she got engaged, she asked if I’d fly to Mexico to document her wedding weekend. There wasn’t even a second of pretending to think about it. It was an immediate, enthusiastic, probably-too-loud “YES!”

Knowing Misty, I already expected the weekend to be thoughtfully planned (occupational hazard of being an incredible wedding planner). What I didn’t fully expect was how naturally every event encouraged people to slow down, laugh together, and genuinely connect. It felt like everyone had been invited on one unforgettable vacation together.

A Cabo San Lucas Wedding Weekend That Turned Guests Into Family

The celebrations kicked off on Thursday with a girls’ day aboard a catamaran, cruising through the sparkling waters of Cabo and passing the famous Arch while everyone soaked up the sunshine. Swimsuits, champagne, music, and plenty of laughter set the tone for everything that followed.

Friday morning looked a little different… because apparently nothing says “welcome to our wedding weekend” quite like a pickleball tournament. I have to admit, I underestimated how seriously people would take it. Friendly competition quickly became actual competition.

That evening, everyone traded paddles for pirate ships. The welcome party aboard a pirate ship sailing through Cabo Harbor was equal parts ridiculous and amazing, which honestly is one of my favorite combinations. There were performances, incredible nighttime views of the coastline, plenty of dancing, and just enough pirate theatrics to make everyone forget they were technically attending a wedding event.

One of my favorite parts of the entire weekend, though, had nothing to do with boats or pickleball. After welcoming their sweet daughter into the world in November 2025, Misty and Jordan made sure she was woven into every part of the celebration. It never felt like they were trying to separate “wedding life” from “family life.” Their little girl was simply part of the story, and watching family members pass her around, steal little snuggles, and celebrate alongside her added so much heart to an already joyful weekend.

A Beautiful Hilton Los Cabos Wedding Ceremony & Reception

By Saturday, everything led into a wedding day that was both elegant and completely relaxed. Hilton Los Cabos provided one of those settings that doesn’t need much help. The Sea of Cortez stretched endlessly behind the ceremony space; the weather couldn’t have been more perfect, and a soft ocean breeze kept everyone comfortable from start to finish.

The ceremony was emotional in all the best ways, followed by portraits along the beach as the light softened into that dreamy golden glow photographers secretly spend our whole careers chasing. And throughout it all, there was this overwhelming sense that everyone genuinely wanted to be there.

Now, some weddings end with a sparkler exit. Some end with a private last dance. This one ended with what can only be described as joyful chaos. As the reception wrapped up, guests slowly started making their way toward the pool… and then one person jumped in. Then another. Then basically everyone. Honestly, it couldn’t have been a more fitting ending.

The entire weekend was built around creating opportunities for people to spend real time together. Every event reminded everyone why destination weddings can be so special. They create space for connection in a way that’s hard to replicate anywhere else.

Misty and Jordan, thank you for trusting me with such an important chapter of your story. Getting to witness your wedding not just as your photographer, but as someone lucky enough to call you friends, was an honor I’ll never take lightly. And yes… if anyone else wants to invite me to Mexico for a wedding, my passport is still very much valid.

“I am CRYING these are so INCREDIBLY PERFECT😭😭😭😭 You captured the days so perfectly that I feel like I’m back in my most special day🥹❤️”
