The mountains had absolutely no interest in being subtle this day. Ten Peaks Crested Butte showed off with sweeping alpine views, soft summer greens, dramatic skies, and one of those sunsets that makes photographers silently weep tears of joy. Gracie and David’s wedding felt like a gathering of people who genuinely couldn’t wait to celebrate them. Just a day built around being present, soaking in the scenery, and spending time with the people who matter most.

Gracie actually found me on Instagram, and one of the sweetest parts of our conversation was hearing that she loved my work, as photography has always been something she appreciates herself. Not long after, we realized I had photographed a few weddings for mutual college acquaintances. It really is a small world.
Her and David’s story feels just as effortlessly meant to be. The two knew each other a little while attending Mizzou before life pulled them in different directions. After graduation, they unexpectedly ran into each other at a bar in Chicago, and as Gracie put it, “the rest is history.” Honestly, I love a meet-cute, but a reunion story? Even better.
That same sense of ease carried through their entire wedding day. Every conversation, hug, and laugh felt genuine. You could tell their guests were genuinely excited to watch these two begin this next chapter together.
Ten Peaks sits high above Crested Butte with panoramic mountain views that somehow make every direction feel like the best view. Whether guests were arriving for the ceremony or simply standing around chatting during cocktail hour, there wasn’t really a bad place to look. It’s one of those venues that does a lot of the work for you.

I’ve photographed at Ten Peaks before, but this wedding reminded me why it continues to stand out.
The ceremony overlooks layers of Colorado mountains that seem to stretch forever, creating an unforgettable backdrop. The reception tent keeps everything bright, elegant, and open while still letting the landscape remain part of the experience.
One thing I especially loved about Gracie and David’s day was how intentionally the timeline was built. There was space to enjoy cocktail hour, catch up with family, and breathe between events. Funny enough, giving yourselves a little room to slow down usually results in the most meaningful photos because no one feels like they’re racing the clock.
Then sunset arrived. The light softened across the mountains, the ski slopes glowed gold, and we wandered into the open meadow for portraits that honestly felt like something out of a movie. Those quiet moments together, away from the celebration for just a few minutes, became some of my favorite images from the entire gallery.

Gracie and David’s wedding was full of joy. After delivering their preview gallery, Gracie sent me a text that completely made my week:
“Yeah, so I’m not ok. UNBELIEVABLE. These are better than I ever could’ve imagined. You and Brady were so amazing!! I keep talking about how amazing our whole vendor team was.”
Those messages never get old.
As photographers, we obviously want to create beautiful images. But more than that, I want couples to feel something when they look back at their gallery years from now. I want them to remember how calm the mountain air felt before the ceremony, how their people showed up for them, how they laughed during portraits, and how impossible it was to stop smiling once the dance floor opened.
Gracie and David’s wedding was exactly that.
If you’re planning a Ten Peaks Crested Butte wedding and dreaming of a day that feels relaxed, scenic, and centered around enjoying the experience rather than racing through it, I honestly can’t recommend this venue enough. It offers incredible views, thoughtful spaces, and endless opportunities for beautiful photographs. But more importantly, it gives you room to simply be present. And if we happen to catch another sunset like this one? I definitely won’t complain. Not even a little.

The first thing I noticed wasn’t the mountains. It wasn’t the river either. It was how absolutely comfortable everyone felt. Katie and Christian created the kind of wedding that reminds you what a celebration is actually supposed to feel like. If you’re searching for a Buena Vista wedding venue that naturally encourages your guests (and […]

The text that popped up on my phone asking if I’d photograph a Cabo San Lucas wedding wasn’t just another inquiry. It was from someone who had slowly become a real friend over the years. Misty and I first connected on social media while she was building her wedding-planning business in Grand Junction, Colorado. Before […]

It’s not every day that I’m contacted before a proposal even happens, but that’s exactly how this story begins. LaRose and Scott’s Vail Chapel wedding had one of the sweetest, most unexpected lead-ups. The groom’s mom reached out to me ahead of the big moment, already thinking steps ahead. Unfortunately, I wasn’t available to photograph […]

Taylor and Stephan’s story with me started through a trusted recommendation from their incredible Vail-based planner. From there, it didn’t take long to realize we were all very much on the same wavelength. They were drawn to the fact that I’m local—which, in a place like Vail, isn’t just a fun bonus, it actually matters. […]

There’s a reason an Aspen wedding sits high on so many dream lists—and no, it’s not just the celebrity sightings (though let’s be honest, that doesn’t hurt). Aspen has earned its reputation as one of the most iconic wedding destinations in the U.S. by doing something few places can: effortlessly blending luxury with the kind […]
